Intermediate Turkish

Intermediate (B1-B2)

Move from careful sentence building to real communication.

This level is for learners who already understand the basics and want to use Turkish more independently. The focus shifts from survival communication to connected speech, richer expression, and understanding authentic topics with less support.

Level Overview

Aligned with CEFR B1-B2, this stage expands your grammar control, active vocabulary, listening stamina, and confidence in conversation so you can follow discussion, explain opinions, and participate in everyday and academic contexts with more ease.

Intermediate (B1-B2)

What You Study

Expanded verb systems, compound tenses, reported speech, conditionals, voice patterns, adverbial clauses, and more natural sentence linking.

Topic-based vocabulary for study, work, media, health, public services, technology, culture, current issues, and professional interaction.

Listening practice with interviews, podcasts, classroom speech, TV-style dialogue, and less simplified Turkish at a more natural pace.

Reading longer texts such as articles, stories, informational pages, and opinion pieces while identifying tone, detail, and argument structure.

Speaking tasks that push you to narrate events, compare ideas, explain processes, defend preferences, and react spontaneously.

What You Will Be Able to Do

  • Handle longer conversations without depending on memorized phrases and keep communication going even when vocabulary is missing.
  • Describe experiences, plans, goals, problems, and opinions in connected Turkish with clearer structure and more accurate tense control.
  • Understand the main points of Turkish media and everyday discussions when the topic is reasonably familiar.
  • Write paragraphs, emails, short essays, and useful work or study messages with stronger cohesion and clearer meaning.

How Learning Feels

  • Lessons become more analytical, helping you understand why a structure is used and how it changes meaning.
  • Listening and speaking tasks are designed to bridge the gap between classroom Turkish and what you hear in real life.
  • You begin to recycle the same grammar across increasingly complex topics so fluency grows from use, not from theory alone.
