Imperative Mood in Turkish (Emir Kipi)

The Imperative is used to give orders, instructions, or make requests. In Turkish, there is no imperative form for "I" (Ben) or "We" (Biz). Interestingly, Turkish has an imperative form for the 3rd person (He/She/They), often translated as "Let him/her..."

💡 The Basic Rule:

Start with the "Verb Stem" (The infinitive form minus $mAk / mek$).

Practical Examples:

  • Hemen buraya gel: Come here immediately.

  • Ona asla inanma: Never believe him.

  • Kolay gelsin: May it come easy (A common greeting for someone working).

  • Lütfen bekleyin: Please wait (plural/formal).

  • Kapıyı kapat: Close the door.

  • Geç kalmasınlar: Let them not be late.
